if you're just wanting to play off the keyboard and then use the voices of your software, you should just have to run midi from your keyboard to the midi in on your tascam. then the tricky part is setting everything up so your software and the keyboard are talking on the same midi channel. i use a yamaha rm1x with fruity loops like that once in awhile. ill play off the sequencer and record the notes into a fruity loops track as midi, then i can change the voice in fruity loops to whatever and it will play with those notes. fruity loops is pretty easy to do all that in, but there is a slight delay from when you play the notes and when they're recorded, usually i have to go back and edit stuff to keep it on beat. i haven't really used midi with any other software besides acid, but im assuming most software and hardware would work together in a similar fashion. anyway, what i have to do, is go into a utility menu in my sequencer and check to see what midi channel that the track im using is going to be sending on, or put it to the channel i want it to send on, either way, get that channel number and then go to the software. some software will have midi input disabled as a default, like Acid does. then you have to go into the options menu, or project midi settings, or something like that and make sure midi is enabled for one. then see if there's a place to select where the software recieves from. for example, i got a soundcard with a midi jack and one of those midi adapters that plug into your joystick port. i use the one on the joystick port, so i have to usually deselect the sound card as the midi recieve source and switch it to the game port. then the last thing i got to do is make sure software is recieving on the same midi channel as what the sequencer is sending on. after that, all i got to do is hit record on a selected track in whatever program, play what i want, and then get the voice right. sorry i cant be more specific about your particular equipment, midi can be a headache, but once you get your setup worked out, it'll really help with productivity. good luck

i use fl 6 xxl and a tascam fw-1082 as my interface and i use my midi keyboard all the time to record into fl and there is no delay for me, everything is on point idk y u have a delay but u shouldn't. i wanna know how to use the stock sounds on my keyboard in the software program and not just use it to control midi data. is there some kind of cable i need to go from my keyboard to my 1082 something that i can plug into it like a line in or sumthing? idk

cool, i think i got you now. when i want to do stuff like that i usually just sample the sounds off the keyboards. like make up a little part and play the whole line and sample all of it. then send it over to the computer and chop it up or do whatever. then put that in fruity loops on a sampler track. treat it just like im sampling records. or just sample a voice and then program whatever notes in FL. if im doing something like that i usually try to get like two or three samples per octave, because when you change the pitch too much, the attack length starts sounding unnatural. so if you got a variety of pitches, you dont ever have to get too far off from the original pitch in the piano roll. with that tascam though, i would think you could just run a 1/4 inch cable from the line outs on the roland and then record with the computer. i think acid is great for recording multi track stuff on the computer, but i still usually use the akai for recording stuff and send it over on usb.

yeah, like if i record in acid or on the mpc or whatever, then id chop it however in soundforge and then open it in fruity loops on a sampler track. sometimes i'll use a whole loop, or sometimes just take a few notes and do the programming with FL.
