Any critiques for mine? This'll probably be my first time picking drums and sounds out of sampled loops, so it'd be great to see how I'm doing.

Just a quick word or 2 on the entrys ive listened to so far and b4 anyone jumps on me - im a noob and not saying i can do better.
1. MorfireBeats – Deliberation
I like this beat, kinda dark with a gappy in-out style and a nice fill. The downbeat kick is a little distorted from how I hear it. Not a banger on its own but would be tight with lyrics!!
P.S Morfire I got this from ughh.com, sorry if you didn’t end up entering it.
2. Randumbschitt – JuneS4SBattle
Not bad at all. Nice and atmospheric with the main sample you used and sounds nice when the other samples slide in. To me it sounds like the bassline is a bit crouded by the beat but I still liked.
3. Dibbs – Digital Drama JuneBatlle1
Really nice! I thought this was mixed really well and the best part is def the bassline how it stands out especially when it goes really low and grunts but still has highend – wish I knew how to make it sound like that or maybe u didn’t do anything to it? Pfft I dunno but nice work for sure.
4. Veon – Christalklearproduction – SFSJunebeatbattle06
The string sample is nice but the sample u mix with it a split second b4 the first string doesn’t sound right to me and the high pitch open hihat doesn’t either. The vocal sample is kind of annoying but if those things were missing I think it would be a nice simple hiphop beat ready for some lyrics.
5. Eccentric – Heatrocks 2.
I like the your production mate – a style similar to MorfireBeats and its got a kinda dark feeling like his! The thing I liked the most was all the snares n claps.
6. CacamanBeats – Caca says
One sample over one drumloop and some funny as hell lyrics. I listen to this about a week ago and couldn’t stop laughing but it sucks because it got stuck in my head until now. Bastard
6. LocarBeats – SFSJunebattle
This is my favourite beat so far! Cant help but nod to this bitch. Nice n funky bassline and sounds tight when it goes down low then the keys come in. Happy sounding shit to me good work!
Thats all so far - takes me forever to download due to having dialup
peace

I've checked a couple more entries and here's some more thoughts from me:
Tet Soul: very nicely mixed. The horns and drums have a very Pete-Rock vibe about them. However, you focus too heavily upon the scratch routine and leave the beat to dwindle away without having realised its potential. Don't get me wrong, your scratching is fantastic but the focus should be the instrumental IMO. Please tell me what you used to do your scratches (actual vinyl or software?).
The Kid Carnage: You seem to have decided to try and use every single sample for your beat and as a result, you've got potential for 3-4 decent beats all squeezed into the one track. I especially like the bits where you mix the organbeat and the sped-up female vocal and this could be a track in its own right. Likewise, I like the bit you've got at the beginning where you slow down the blues singer and if you sliced that up some more, you'd have a "Tical" style vibe going.

LocarsBeats: DOPE!!! Very nice indeed! A nice blend of eastcoast grittyness and middle-eastern mystery.
One thing tho, how did you create that accordion sound from the contest kit? I like the way you've EQ'd all the other parts but Ijust can't figure out how you got an accordion from the source material?

cre8iveson: starts out very promising (sounds like the sort of thing X would rip) but there's no switch-ups, no growth and there's no hook. When the chorus comes all your samples drop out and the track should be the reverse with the horn (and maybe one other element) building toward the chorus
Just IMO obviously.

Review of the final 4
Schizo: Can't really hear your track, The drums are there, but the samples are to low to hear how you flipped it. OK.
Sallam: (June 1) Yo! your loop and drums are way off. Sorry Dunn Poor (June 2) Much better (proably shoulda kept the 1st one in the stash) Still lacking in the mix dept and the vocal samp seems out of place. OK-
Bless1: I like the ruffness of the bass and the hits, theres no movement after that. The vocal samp and the break seemed off. OK-
Thetruthret: (june 1)Sounds a lil choppy, but the samples are clean could use a little more in the change up. OK.

Hottroxx: Yo! that Trauma joint is hot! Diggin the darkness, nice nod to it. strings are hot as well, a lil repetitive, but the nod factor keeps it movin. Good (issues) I like how you flipped the vocals, and again the dark feel, but the mix seems kinda muddy (in comparison to 1st joint) This one gets old tho, don't got that nod here. OK.

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it...You know the repetition part is killing me...for some reason, I'm having issues coming up with ways of switching things up lately; Writers block I guess. Anyways, that's my main area of focus as of late. Thanks again for taking your time to listen and critique...

Hi tonwhaa
Your beats are cool but the mp3s you uploaded to myspace were waaaaaay too quiet.
The acas were slightly too low in the mix of all three of your beats.
I liked what you did for your pinky ring remix but using that acapella kept reminding me of the original which was a distraction.

thanks fraggle. yeah I was deciding whether or not to take off that pinky ring acapella because it was distracting me too. kinda hard to touch certain wu tracks. thanks for the input. Next month its on.

And you didn't comment on on anyone else's work either!? Anyway track was kinda bland, relatively clean samples, but lacking in the change ups. Rhymes.... it's a beat battle so no comment! overall OK-
