I've picked three entries at random and here's my gut reactions to them:
Fearless Prophet: Nice. It's got a real Sunz of man/4th Disciple vibe about it. All I would say is that you overuse the sample with the brass and snare roll toward the end.
King Z Beats: Laidback and grimey. I feel your entry suffers from a lack of compression on the drums and the mastering being a bit too low.
Jay Cas: As I said on your Soundclick message board, you slice that sample well but even with all the variations, it gets a bit repetitive by verse #2 and I was expecting you to flip a different sample or set of slices.

My favourite entry so far is Cakaman's Remix of Biggie's "Dead Wrong" - it takes a real talent to get that stark, grimey vibe and I wish I had that talent.

Seriously though, I keep asking for feedback every month and never get any - I would genuinely appreciate some advice on mixing and I know y'all can drop science.

aight well i heard ur beat and its pretty cool, but i felt like it was too 'busy'...too much going on at some points. the best advice i can give u with mixing is trial and error man, keep making shit and just f**k around till it sounds right. there's lots of places on the net where u can learn about mixing and learning to use effects (EQ, reverb, compression, panning, etc). i learned ey'thing by myself that way. hope this helps.

Review of the last 5:
Sec 7: Like the violin samples, Drums were kind of lacking, overall O.K.
illo: Nice use of vocal samp, and the strings(2nd string loop was a good change up) Overall Good
Bigdix: definitely a different swing on it. Felt a lil choppy tho, more like a DJ. mix than a track. Overall OK. (x-cred for creativity)
Fraggle: Really busy, but really clean sounding samples. You should try letting the basic parts of the track play out a lil bit to get people in the groove. Overall OK.
Caca Man: Maybe the best one up so far (but I ain't put mine up yet!) ;D that shit is sick, man! Nice use of the main sample and the piano parts, drums were right! Overall HOT!

Dibbs - june battle 1 - Real sick flip here im digging the vibe. I can seriously see some deep shit on here its just my type of beat. overall 7/10 for me (it'll prolly be a 10 as far as a track goes depending on the artist). ajax - mash out - this one is coo (damn everyone chose that vocal sample including myself this beat gets kinda boring to me quick iono why....nothing special in my eyes overall about a 4/10 for me (it's just my opinion fammo so don't get mad just keep banging) jonhood - Junebeatbattle06 - different typa vibe here.....I like this couldn't see a artist on this (unless there's a salsa rap crossover happening) but i'm definitely feeling the vibe here.....overall i'll give this a 6.5 for me. these were just random selections i might do more later on I just noticed this board existed pretty coo for other members to drop they thoughts on other entries. If anyone whats to review my entry it's here www.myspace.com/50dollarbeats it's called SFS JUNE BEAT BATTLE ENTRY

Hey guys, firstly i want to say good luck too everybody posting their beats, theres some real fire out there man. Personally i think cacaman, dibbs (theres a couple more i cant remember) are gifted, im feelin dibbs first beat, crazy on the vocal and bass line. cacaman has slayed it on the dead wrong remix, nice job. I thought i had the potential to be atleast top 3, but its deadly up in here. If anyone can give me some advice or feedback it would be much appreciated, i believe i have the potential to be sittin sidewards with some of the critiquely acclaimed producers in this b****. heres my soundclick page, the june battle is entitled june beat battle 1, thanks. www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=382679good luck.

Thanks Sic! As Prods we are the mostly(untill recently) unknown element of Hip Hop! and it's hard to step your game up without a response other than "that shits hot!, Let me rock that!" from the average MC.
Good Luck too you, and all as well!

c'mon tim from pootle. verry weak entry. it has so wiked rythm i dont even know it. the bass line is too loud and could use some eq to cut anything but the low shelf and play around with it. it dont sond too hype to me. im feelin you got too shorter base notes. let the sustain or release and not so many. hope ive this will prove usefull
i took a quick look at the other 2 entries. like earth to sky. the diference i mean.

jcubs1 alsaw week. apart from those voice cuts there is nothin that captures my attention. just some drums 4/4 not varing not nothing and a looped sample over and over again. and a brake half the instrumental. that's it, too plain, too simple. that works to spit on it and even turn out quite well but in a instrumental axed competition you should play with it from start till end. pace

@ veon.
I read your disparaging words on my third entry ("C'mon Tim") so thought I'd return the favour by checking your entry.
Where's the bassline? I've got my sub-woofer turned up to the max and the only bass is the thud of the kick drum - that's not very groovy.
You need to pitch your samples correctly because at present, none of them are in the same key and so they jar and clash without any funk.
Likewise, the mixing/EQ'ing of the song is very rough and sounds slapdash.

ah i already forgot who posted this ima tell em by soundclick name im sorry
HipHopTraxx-Com
1) Nothin bangin in this entry. There is just one sample put there as it is. No effencts no nothing. The sample from beginning to the end. Plus that it dont have a nice ending. There are the drumsand adn every now and then a rattle wich spices things up and a high pitch hit. What is a plus are the scratches but not so hich quality.
2) Now this one is great. Cool start with the voice maybe too abrupt on the transition with the actual beat. Another minus is the sample with is pitched too low in discrepance with the unpitched one.

The kid Karnage Base line is too proeminent in the first 30 seconds with the voice play. The other sampels you can't distinguish verry clearly. I personaly dont like the first minute. But what follows is what i like best with chopped sample. Apart from that overall good. The samples seem to find there place. Get rid of the first minute. P.S. I saw you sampled Requiem for a Dream. Darn you . I wanted to do that but couldnt find the soundtrack. TetSoul Another one with scrathes. I'm no deejay so i cant critique scrathes profi or something but they sound average to good to me. My ears ere first stolen by the scrathes ;D and i hought it rocked but it doesent. The first part the lead sample if i can call it that from 0:20 to 0:40 has some cuts on the sample tehnique that i think is great. And that's about it. The second part is kinda dull apart of that yelling wich add some contrast. ARE THIS CRITIQUES HELPIN ENYBODY? ARE THEY AENY GOOD
