I've got the KRK V8's (with a sub woofer). Much better than what I had before.

Samson Resolv 50a's (no-sub woofer) Wouldn't really recommend them, but their all I've got at home, and all I could afford at the time.
I also use a pair of cheap ass old house speakers (6' woofer 3' tweeter) hooked up to an old reciever/amp. When I think I've got the mix close I run it threw the crusty set up just make sure. If I can make it sound good on there I'm normally on point.

i have a pair of event tr8 xl's...they are dope for making beats. dj'ing, shit like that, but as far as REALLY mixing...f**k em....in my opinion, a monitor that has less of a bass response is ideal for mixing. my friend has a pair of yamahas (i forget the name), and they are ill for mixing, but when he makes beats, his shit is always bass heavy.
and the KRK's are good budget speakers for making beats (they aren't garbage) and listening to music, but not good for mixing....
cop a pair of event tr5's or something or the alp's
event=best sound for under a g

I use the Blue Sky 2.1 which is the two sats and a sub. The Lucas Arts studio uses them and I basically went to Sam Ash and auditioned a bunch of speakers and picked the ones that I could see myself mixing toward (their sound).
I had the M-Audio Studiophile for a long time before that.
I can even remember using the Sounblaster gamers' set and thinking that sub was my secret weapon.
