what needle to use?

What are the needles that are popular to use with sampling to the mpc? What does Just Blaze, Pete Rock, and those likes use? I have a orofon concorde, but someone told me that dj shadow recommends using a high-fi needle because dj needles can add unwanted compression.

Hi-Fi are definitely the way to go but can be a lil pricey...you just wanna make sure the needles you buy reproduce the full freq range without coloring any particular freq too much...

also, there's nothing wrong with a lil compression...especially in the analog realm...analog is definitely more forgiving in that arena...but that all depends on your application i guess...
