Update:::::::::: Even though MPC is alittle out of my price range, I guess i can be patient. Im thinking about saving up for the MPC500, mainly because its portable. Are there any CONS for the MPC500? Is it not as good as the 1000? Thnkx for all of your help by the way!!!!

I just bought a 1000 and I like it a lot. I've had several samplers and It does the job. The mpc 60 is almost 20 years old so you may feel limited by the machine just due to how old school it is (no usb, 12 bit sampling, limited memory). The mpc 500 is only a couple hundred $ less than the 1000 and I didnt want to miss out on a sampler that I knew would be what I needed over a couple hundred bucks. My advice, save a little longer and buy the 1000.

I agree, the 1000 would be more worth your hard earned cash...but I just wanted to point out...12 Bit sampling makes for ILL, and I mean ILL drum sounds, alongh with anything else that you want to sound more 'dirty'...low bit sampling does wonders. But yeah, 1000 is the way to go, unless you really travel a lot and spend a lot of time away from home... by the way...are there any features that you can get for the 500 to make it closer to the 1000 in any way?

Truth---I hear you on the 12 bit illness. Not only does the MPC 60 make drums sound grimey as hell, the sequencer is on point.
