I'm about to cop the mpc500 next week cuz i'm luvin the portability that it has to offer that the others do not. running on batteries is ideal for me to take this to work so i wanna know your thoughts on this machine cuz i have not played with it or any other mpc for that matter. i already know about the price of the 1k being so close so i might as well get that 1 so don't say that to me please. all i need to know is based on you guys having hands on experience with these machines is the 500 a wise buy or is it lacking wut the other mpcs have to offer?

"i have not played with it or any other mpc for that matter."
I'd suggest playing around with it first just to see if you like it. Yeah, the idea of a portable machine is cool. If you are use to software though, you might feel limited when you play with the 500 (even if it is at work).
Don't invest in any beat making tool without trying it first. Nothing is worse to an up and coming producer than dropping a chunk of money on something and thinking "Damn, this shit didn't really help my beats at all".
Ya feel me? Take a test drive first, then you can make your decision based on facts related to what YOU are doin. Peace.

after messing around with the mpc 500 i decided the screen was too small for me too lol so i went ahead and bought an axiom61 and a numark dj package of 2 tables and a mixer for a little over the mpc 500 price
