Talib Kweli & Madlib Collab Album Is Out Nov.6"
Its called Liberation, Kweli wrote about it in his myspace blog:
New Talib Kweli, off of Eardrum! Country Cousins featuring UGK and Raheem DeVaughn..Shout out to my brothers Bun B and Pimp C, the new UGK album is fire... Liberation, November 06....Blacksmith the Movement the Mixtape, November 06...Eardrum, January 07... Just to clear up the confusion, I pushed Eardrum back, it didn't get pushed back...remember kids, it's my label. I'm going to put my album out in the right climate, I'm not going to rush, for what? I am not a slave to the release date, and I have never given one (if you saw one, it was Warner Brothers trying to keep a schedule, corporate shit). I have predicted which month I would finish in, but guess what, I am not finished. Music is not an exact science, so you have to be fluid. I tried to finish by the summer, and when I didn't, Warner put a release date of November 7th on the schedule. I'm an exec now, and I made an executive desicion to not come out the same day as Nas and the Game and a couple of weeks before Jay-Z. Fourth quarter is crazy for hip hop this year. So in January, God willing, when you go to the store to return whatever wack albums you got for Christmas, you can pick up my album instead, how's that? In the meantime, I will drop the new mixtape and the Mad Lib collabo this month. You can see by my track record that I never let y'all go too long between releases, street shit, industry shit or whatever. When I dropped the Beautiful Struggle in 2004, I wasn't completely ready to release an album and I knew that Geffen was not going to support it, but I made a strategic desicion to have something in the marketplace anyway. Having that album out that year put me in a position to tour with Kanye, the Beastie Boys and the Black Eyed Peas back to back. I then released Never Been In Love on my own and shot my own video. Geffen had nothing to do with that. That was the beginning of Blacksmith Music, the label. I never want to be in a position where I have to drop something or else. Give me space to make the best album possible, and we will all be happy...and trust me, I got this! Leading up to the release, my profile, buzz and level of exposure will grow, not diminish. The Blacksmith Movement will be larger and in full force. The year of the Blacksmith will not be defined by a calendar. It will always be our year, from here on out. Thank you for riding with us... Talib Kweli, BKMC, Mr. International, the Flow Captain
