Direct recording is the ability to sample something while the sequencer is playing and have it automatically remember how you played it in the sequencer (while you where sampling) and it flys it into the sequencer automatically.
So sampling and sequencing is done at the SAME time basically,and thats what direct recording is,sampling and sequencing at the same time.
Normally when you sample a sound you have to assign it to a pad,and then get into your sequencers record (Play + Record) and tap it into your sequencer.
With Direct record you play something live over a sequence while direct record sampling,and it remembers (how and where) you played it into the sequencer.
Just direct record,assign to a pad and press play and its there.

damn thats sick...i hope to pick up a 2500 when i get the cash....so could the direct recrod work with reason and a midi controller?..meaning that if i wanted to lay down some piano notes, i could play in the piano notes with my midi keyboard that runs through reason and record wut i play right into the 2500?

also do u have any more 2500 vids? id like to see wut else this sucker can do before i get one.....also as of now i have enough for a mpc 1k....should i save for the 2500? i'm pretty sure that i'm gonna go the 2500 rout but if it's not all that much better than the 1k than i wouldn't bother...but by the looks of it and some reivews i've read, it seems a shit load better than the 1k...would u agree?

wut would u say about getting a 25k vs. a 1k? should i save up and get a 25k or just get a 1k now?
