i know this is focused more on individuals than groups, but a tribe called quest should be mentioned too. they self-produced 3 legendary albums, which is more than you can say about alot of the people who've been named. probably not worthy of top 5, but 20 or something.

yeah, that's definetly his best work, I'm not saying he isn't a nice producer...He's just not really my thing, you know? He definetly has some solid beats, but he also has a lot of what I call 'Noise'.
