i got a mpc 2000xl and i need to figure out how to do a couple things, like one im trying to set it so that when im play a sample on a pad, everytime i hit it the sample restarts, now its just starting but starting on top of the first time i hit it. any help would be greatly appreciated.

wow 25 reads and no replies... ok man first thing i would recommend is read the manual. ;-)
now that that is out of the way... on your numeric keypad hold down shift and press 6.
that is your program screen. Your program is basically the collection of all the sounds you have assigned to pads. You can have up to four programs. press F1 (drum 1 or program 1). hit the pad you want to edit. then press F2 (params). This is the parameters screen where you can tweak the pad the sample is assigned to. Use the arrows and tab over to the field that says POLY. set it to MONO.
Long winded but i figured you were new to the machine so some brief explanation of one of your main screens would be useful.
