i am newer to bouncing my beats from my MPC track by track into protools. i have been looking into one of these m audio project mixes. but i have already an 1814 interface. i know that the pres are garbage. so i would have to buy an 8 channel preamp, which makes my investment about 2 g's. this sucks, because basically i just paid 2 g's for protools automation. is there any mixing board i could buy that i could hook up through my exsisting spdif or digital in's/out's on my 1814, that would allow me to have automation through protools? ? probably not, but i thought i would ask anyway...thanks...http://img370.imageshack.us/my.php?image=jasoganeshwd1.jpg

Why you need 8 mic pres? All you need is 8 analogue ins for your MPC, correct? and two mice pres at the most for vocals...
The 18/14 pres are not that bad...especially if you are recording someone who can actually rhyme through them with a decent mic...
If you want a console and you are ready to spend $2gs' alone on a mic pre...then take the 2gs scrape some more guap and cop a Tascam DM3200(the bizness) use that with the 18/14 and you are pretty much set for a while...if you want to save some loot...then sell the 18/14 and get a Projec Mix...the 18/14 is the audio interface in the Project Mix...or get a Digi 002...and if you say f**k it im good with the 18/14 interface and want to ride some faders then just search ebay for a now rare Tascam 2400 MIDI console( I owned one sold it for 6 bills and now they go for 8 bils or more) and use that...
Hope that helps...

Theres also "Motor Mix" (search ebay, they still sell it new but Sweetwater wants like $800) there a little easier to find but they'll run between $300-$400 I sold mine to get a Project Mix (because the motormix won't work with Reason without alot of midi drama) If you find one there really high quality metal , with nice faders, there 8 track controllers but can be linked together and they have a separate dashboard with the jog dial.
