MPC1000 OS V2.10 REVIEW
1st off I have been using akai Mpcs since I got my 1st mpc60 in 96,since then I have owned the mpc3000,mpc2000,and then the mpc2000xl that I stuck with from when it 1st came out to now,I actually traded my xl for a unopened mpc1000.. I am VERY impressed with the mpc1000`s new os upgrades new features..
It is officially more powerful then the mpc2000xl..
I only have one gripe with the mpc1000 and that`s having no auto chromatic assign feature, but i can live with that. ..
I am reminded of Yoda when I think of the mpc1000,
"SIZE MATTERS NOT"
This could not be more true, the mpc1000 is a BEAST!!
So let me start my review of the new features, complete with screen shots..
The feature that I am just LOVING is the new quantize feature, you now have the ability to use swing on 32 notes ( not just 8 and 16 notes like earlier mpc models..
32 notes with swing just sounds so dam fresh on the mpc1000!!!
The next cool feature is the ability to play a sample before you load it.
You can now chop samples on the mpc1000,and not just 2 to 16 zones like the mpc2000xl,you can how a sample into a whopping 64 slices!!!
Here is how the chopping screen looks.
Another Very COOL new features is Patched Phrase samples.
When you Patched Phrase a sample, that sample is then tied to your tempo and if you make the tempo faster or slower,it will play the sample faster of shower without effecting the pitch ( real time stretching )
You can also now automate the mixer screen like all the other mpc,by changing record mix changes to YES.
The mpc1000 also now has note repeat lock, you do this by hitting shift when you hold the repeat button and you will then see this..
You can also do note repeats without the sequencer playing now, great for live performances!!
You can now pitch shift samples too, that changes the pitch of a sample while preserving the samples length.
Last but def not least the mpc1000 can now stretch samples...and it does it so fast.
The time stretch screen also has a detect tempo feature.
This is a GREAT mpc and worth every penny of the $800 they are sold for..
